We should celebrate this product by supporting companies and manufactures who think like we do and treat peanut butter and  peanut butter consumers with the highest respect and care! So indulge in this great food in any ways you can think of, then share you story and spread the love!

Thinking Outside the Jar.

Peanut butter has spread across the globe, and it is starting to make an impact in some pretty interesting place. Look at my HERE THERE AND EVERYWHERE page to find out more about peanut butter in different continents are places around the globe!

But thinking outside of the jar, does not just mean across boarders and trade lines, but literally how peanut butter is being used. Peanut butter is often used as an art ilstalation in the museum boijmans exhibits by van beuningen.

This particular exhibit used 2000 jars of peanut butter to create. Not very sustainable, but I bet is sure smelled good! Unfortunately a rather clueless museum goer walked over the peanut butter floor and damaged the installation..

How’s it Made?

So peanut butter may just  be ground up peanut with a touch of salt and oil, but how is it really made? Did you know that peanut butter does not actually come from a nut…..but a legume!? Now that you know that the best way to go is local, close to home, even your next door neighbor, for all you peanut butter needs, the first step is to find them! There are many resources online that will help you locate retailers of pant butter, but sometimes finding the actual farm can be tough!

Farm Fresh Rhode Island is a wonderful resource to find specific local farmers in RhodeIsland. They have interactive maps and profile of hundreds of farmers in the state! Health Nut!

Is peanut butter healthy or not? Doubtless you have heard the argument both ways:

Pro:

Peanut butter is a wonderful source of protein, health LDL monounsaturated fats, vitamins, and minerals! It can help reduce sever diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, as well as make you live longer! It is a perfect substitute for other protein foods and will keep you full and energized all day, not to mention tastefully satisfied!

Con:

Peanut butter contains fat and can cause excess weight gain and fat storage. It can have serious side effects for those with peanut allergies. Peanut butter is prone to salmonella and is a serious risk to consumers.

Truth:

Peanut butter is a healthy food, if consumed healthily! Although it does have a risk on salmonella contamination, it can easily be avoided by smart purchasing and food inspection. Peanut butter has been proven to improve health and quality of life especially in regards to illnesses such as cancer. Because the paste is packed full of vitamins and minerals this food is a great way to ensure a more complete nutritional diet. Speaking of diet, peanut butter has not been confirmed as a catalyst to weight gain, on the contrary it has been found to be an appetite suppressant and is often used in weight loss and management diets!
